THE MEANING OF COLORS: WHITE
We are starting a new blog series about colors, starting with the color white.
White is pure and innocent. It is clean, lightweight, silent and simplistic.
White is the color of new beginnings, wiping the slate clean.
It is a color that is peaceful, calm and clarifying, but too much white can give a feeling of emptiness and isolation.
White is the color of doctors’ coats which shows that they are clean. You cannot hide anything in white as opposed to black. It makes white innocent and trustworthy. It also signifies confidence and implies high standards. White is the color of perfection and balance.
Since Queen Victoria in 1840 married Prince Albert in London in a white wedding dress the standard, for a bride to wear white on her wedding day, was set. White is now associated with Innocence, purity and faithfulness due to the bride. This is not the case in all cultures. Some places, the color white is associated with sorrow.
White represents the good – Angels and white knights. Fairytales often portray the good in white and the evil in black.
When you wear white you appear youthful, confident and self-assured.
